There’s a few things in Legend of Korra that kind of frustrate me.

1. Korra has never entered the avatar state. Now, I’m hoping that the way things are starting to set up about her connecting with her past lives that we’ll see some avatar state soon.

2. What happened to the rest of the world? Did everyone all move to republic city? What’s happening in the fire nation? How’s Ba Sing Se doing these days? What about Omashu? What’s been going on at the north pole? The Last Airbender explored many areas of the world and there was important stuff happening everywhere. Why is everything concentrated on Republic City in Korra? Surely the equalists are spreading their anti-bender propaganda through other parts of the world as well. A movement that big wouldn’t just contain itself in one city. And come to think of it, I don’t think we’ve heard much of anything about the rest of the world save for some about the southern water tribe in the first episode if I remember correctly. Did everyone of any significance from TLA move to Republic City?

3. This is really kind of a small one and I’m sure could be explained easily, but why is Korra a master of water, earth, and fire without any training at all in any of them? We never saw much of the past avatars learning their bending, but we saw Aang and we saw Roku. Both of them traveled the world to find masters who would teach them the element. Korra just kinda started off as a little kid bending everything but air as far as we saw. In TLA, they had to do tests to find the new avatar. The only time Aang did any water bending before he started learning was when he was in the avatar state.

I’m not saying Korra is bad or that I don’t like the show. In many ways, I think it surpasses TLA, but there’s a lot that it seems to be ignoring that was set up in TLA.
